- Version 2.0 – improved search/replace dialog. Now there is search/replace statistic. Also, you can select “Yes to all for this search/replace pair” or ”No to all for this search/replace pair”. Release date: 13 April, 2012.
- Version 1.9 – rename with preview was released. Release date: 31 January, 2012.
- Version 1.8 – rename files like file1.txt to file001.txt, e.g. files with number in file name.
- Version 1.7 – more flexible options for file renaming, not can rename files using counter.
- Version 1.6 – the program can remember your choices and use them in future in auto-replaces.
- Version 1.5 – with UNICODE support and ability to search inside MS Word files.
- Version 1.4 – the “search without replace” function allows to search for text, but don’t replace anything. Search and replace of special symbols (like line break, tab, decimal or hex coded, file beginning and file end special symbols supported) supported.

I purchased AKS Text Replacer to take the place of Gammadyne’s File Substring Replacement Utility which is now called String-O-Matic. They haven’t really changed the program, just the name. Also, I don’t like the idea that I bought their software and can only install and activate it 5 times. Then, I have to pay the full price for another 5 installations.
The AKS Text Replacer versions are good for a year. Then, I pay a discounted (not full) price for future upgrades.
The AKS Text Replacer does everything the String-O-Matic does, and does it better. The interface of the AKS Text Replacer is better, and much simpler!
